Juniata man wins first marathon

Joshua Church of Juniata nears the finish line of the
Hastings Marathon Saturday morning. Church
finished the marathon in first place with a time of
3:06:51.

Although running his first marathon, Joshua Church of Juniata outpaced competitors to win the inaugural Hastings Marathon on Saturday.

“It’s something to check off the bucket list,” the 26-year-old Church said.

Last year, he placed first in the Hastings Half Marathon. When he heard Hastings would host a full 26-mile marathon, he jumped on board.

Training for the run was a little harder than he anticipated.

“I couldn’t get past 15 miles in training,” he said. “I’m feeling it. It’s good to be done.”
