Council tables 9th Street talk before it starts

About 30 Hastings residents filled the City Council Chambers for discussion Monday night on an agenda item that never happened.

The council planned to conduct a public hearing on the possible closure of Ninth Street between Elm and Ash avenues, but the matter was tabled instead. It was scheduled to be heard at the request of Hastings College as part of its campus renovation project.

“It’s not ready to be addressed yet,” Mayor Vern Powers said at the start of the meeting.
