Beatrice rallies to defeat JIH

Johnson Imperial Homes' Cole Maurer bats against
Beatrice Wednesday at Duncan Field.

Beatrice used a late, eighth inning rally to come from behind and defeat Johnson Imperial Homes 3-2 on Wednesday.

JIH, behind starting pitcher Blayne Dreher, appeared to be in control throughout the game up until the eighth inning when Beatrice caught fire.

“I think the errors hurt us,” JIH head coach Blake Marquardt said. “I think they’re (Beatrice) a good team that really hit the ball well. But I think if we could eliminate some of our errors early in the (eighth) inning, runners aren’t in scoring position and it changes our defensive scheme.”
