TC's Wiedel is Tribland boys track and field athlete of the year

Thayer Central's Simon Wiedel competes in the Class C
triple jump during the state track and field meet May 17 in
Omaha.

Seth Wiedel, a Thayer Central graduate, is a jumper on the University of Nebraska's track and field team. A two-time Tribland Track and Field Athlete of the Year, Seth is one of the most decorated track and field athletes Thayer Central has seen.

For a couple more years, that is.

Brother Simon Wiedel just finished an impressive freshman campaign with the Titans, claiming four medals — two gold, one silver and a fifth-place medal — at the state track and field meet in Omaha. In Seth's freshman year, he won just one medal.

Simon won the 100-meter dash (10.85) and the 200 (22.39), while placing second in the triple jump (44 feet, 7 1/2 inches) and fifth in the long jump (21-5 1/2).
