GENEVA — The Bruning/Davenport/Shickley American Legion baseball took advantage of a big inning on Thursday night against Geneva.

Geneva led 2-1 going into the top of the fifth inning, but BDS capitalized on some Geneva mistakes to score six runs in the frame, en route to a 9-5 victory.

“I was proud of our team, despite all of our mistakes and errors and the little plays that we normally execute that we didn’t,” said BDS coach Rod Tegtmeier. “We were down 2-1 going into the top of the fifth, and then we started hitting the ball and running the bases aggressively and smart, and we did a nice job from there on out.”
