On Tuesday, the Johnson Imperial Homes American Legion baseball team clinched the West Division of the Cornhusker League.
If there was any worry of JIH letting up against Lexington on Wednesday after a big win, starting pitcher Trey Asher and the Hastings offense quickly relieved those fears.
Through the first three innings, Johnson Imperial Homes tallied 12 runs, while Asher faced just nine batters, striking out seven of them, en route to a 13-0, five-inning victory at Duncan Field.
"We talked about it at the beginning of the season, that our defense and our pitching was going to lead us the way, but lately everything's come together," said JIH head coach Blake Marquardt. "Our hitting's really come together, so now we're putting runs up and pitching well. It's kind of been a complete team the way we're playing."
