JIH caps tough stretch with win

Johnson Imperial Homes' Brady Michel slides into second base
under the tag of Lexington's Brody Lauby Thursday night at
Duncan Field.

Since June 19, the Johnson Imperial Homes American Legion baseball team has played nine games, winning eight of them.

The latest in that stretch was Thursday's win over Lexington.

In its third game in as many days, JIH left 12 runners on base but still managed to beat Lexington 6-1, thanks, in part, to a strong outing from starting pitcher Morgan Karloff.

"(Karloff's) last two starts for us — Millard West and (Thursday's), have been it," said JIH coach Russ Kindig. "If he can get out of the first inning, he's been good for us. We were really struggling for an arm, so he's came in and stepped up well for us as a freshman."
