Neighbors concerned about Bridges program

One of the buildings that make up housing for the Bridges
program is pictured Friday.

Neighbors around a soon-to-open state facility at U.S. Highway 6 and Southern Hills Drive are worried about the type of patients that will be living there.

They have heard rumors that sex offenders, pedophiles and violent criminals will be living within walking distance of their homes.

With less than a quarter mile between her house and the facility, Joan Krabel is upset that neighbors weren't notified about the facility being built.

"It makes me feel totally unsafe in my own home," she said.

Krabel doesn't have children living at home, but the facility is less than a mile from Adams Central Junior-Senior High School and that thought makes her nervous.
