EDGAR — A man was killed in a grain bin accident this morning on the northern edge of town here.
Edgar Fire Chief Gene Babcock had difficulty talking about an incident that occurred just a couple of hours earlier.
“An individual was scooping corn out of his grain bin, and I’m not sure what happened but basically he got trapped inside and was deceased,” he said.
The Edgar Fire Department responded to the scene at 9:10 a.m. Babcock did not release the victim’s name this morning.
“We were on the scene for approximately an hour and 20 minutes, extricating him out,” he said. “We had several volunteers from the community helping us pulling grain back and people scooping. We did bring a helicopter in, but we waved them off.”
