Construction should begin soon on the first phase of The Lark, allowing Listening Room concerts to be performed there by the fall.
Members of the Hastings City Council voted 7-0 at their regular meeting Monday night to approve a $607,100 renovation contract for the building at 809 W. Second St. with Carmichael Construction of Hastings.
Phase I includes a performance space with a 250-person capacity. The space also can be used for meeting room and banquet space. Phase I also includes a full bar, Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant bathrooms, catering kitchen and all mechanical and building code requirements.
Once Phase I is complete, The Lark will be home to the Listening Room concert series.
