D-T teacher touching lives as long-time blood drive coordinator

DONIPHAN — While talking about the relationship between her school’s blood drives and community members and alumni, Mary Ann Hanson received a hug from a former student who came in to donate.

Earlier, the mother of Doniphan-Trumbull elementary students and a woman who works in the school’s kitchen greeted Hanson as they waited together to donate blood Wednesday afternoon. “Our school and community, there’s such a sense of being a family and supporting each other,” Hanson said. “The community supports our sports teams and our speech program, all the things we have going on here. It’s like that’s who Doniphan-Trumbull is. We’re family.”

Wednesday marked the 20th and final blood drive Hanson coordinated as the high school’s FCCLA sponsor.
