Fisher Fountain to receive updates before summer

Fisher Rainbow Fountain is going to receive a fairly extensive makeover in the next couple of months to take care of some much-needed maintenance and prolong the life of the landmark.

The $67,000 price tag on the renovation project is being taken care of by Hastings Utilities, which has typically been the entity responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the fountain, the Board of Public Works heard at its meeting Thursday.

“It’s a big job, but we’re going to end up with a fountain that’s restored to an extremely good condition and an item that will require very little maintenance year to year after that,” said Ron Sanders, director of operations for HU, who helped find a contractor for the fountain project.
