Willa Cather Foundation to have new executive director

RED CLOUD — The Willa Cather Foundation Board of Governors has announced Ashley Olson, associate executive director for the foundation, will assume the position of executive director beginning April 21.

The announcement comes as Leslie Levy, current foundation executive director, has been named executive director of the International Quilt Study Center and Museum in Lincoln.

Levy was appointed executive director of the Willa Cather Foundation on Aug. 1, 2011.

Prior to joining the foundation, she worked nine years as director of the Consumer Protection/ Anti-trust division for the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office. Throughout her tenure with the Willa Cather Foundation she split her time between Red Cloud and Lincoln where she resides with her husband and two sons.

“Ashley will do a remarkable job as the executive director of the WCF,” Levy said. “The experience and knowledge she has gained as the associate executive director has provided her the perfect foundation from which to further her career as executive director.”

Olson, a Red Cloud native, joined the foundation staff in 2008 and has served as associate executive director since 2010. She is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in business administration.
