Stepping back in time, a group of teenagers and senior citizens took a bus tour Wednesday of the former U.S. Naval Ammunition Depot east of Hastings.
Eighth-grade students from St. Cecilia and seniors involved with Adams County Senior Services attended the tour. This is the third year the intergenerational tour has been organized, funded by a grant from the Nebraska Humanities Council.
Walt Miller, former Central Community College-Hastings teacher and NAD historian, led the tour across the former military base. As they drove by different buildings, Miller described the functions of each. He told stories from various workers at the facility whom he had spoken to during his research.
