Then: The Hastings College women's basketball team won its second consecutive NAIA Division II national championship, defeating Dakota Wesleyan 59-53 at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa, on March 18, 2003.
Now: One conducts sleep studies. Another is a ranch wife. Some work in the medical field. Others are coaching at a college or high school.
Once teammates, they went their separate ways. But there's two things that haven't changed: their friendships and a love for basketball.
Members of the 2002, 2003 and 2006 Hastings College national championship basketball teams returned to Hastings to compete together in the annual Whoopers & Hoopers basketball tournament last weekend.
And they showed they can still play ball at a high level.
Playing in the Class B division, the Schuck Farms-HC Broncos team went 4-0 and defeated Extreme Ag Inc. 58-36 in the championship game Sunday, March 17, 2013. Yes, almost 10 years to the day when some hoisted the 2003 national championship trophy during their college careers.
