The Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors is among several groups of community leaders that have expressed support of the plan to reorganize and update the six elementary sites in Hastings.
At its meeting Wednesday, the chamber board passed a resolution formally supporting the $21.5 million bond issue proposed by Hastings Public Schools for the project.
Chamber director Tom Hastings said that more modern elementary facilities will contribute to the development and success of students who eventually will join the work force and contribute to the Hastings community as adult citizens.
“Education is a priority for the chamber and for the community because it gives us the ability to develop and attract talented individuals for the work force,” Hastings said. “We commend the school district for developing plans for these facilities that will provide the best possible environment for our students and staff to work in.”
