The Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce is equipping local businesses with the tools and information to up their marketing ante, and the participants are hoping the effort will yield positive change in the Hastings retail market.
Earlier this month, the chamber's Retail Development Committee began conducting a series of retail presentations that share market and consumer information with businesses under a series of categories. The goal of the meetings is to give retailers demographic information and consumer requests that will help them cater their goods and services to area customers.
"We have a lot going on in Hastings, but our retailers don't always do a great job of telling their story. By getting this data into their hands, we are hoping to connect those stories with shoppers," said Corey Stutte, president of Strategic Pioneer, a market research company that conducted the retail surveys and market analysis on behalf of the chamber in 2013.
