About 70 volunteers spruce up miniature golf course

They cleared off carpeting around each hole. They repainted the obstacles and scorecard posts. They dug up rocks and tore out grass
About 70 volunteers Saturday helped spruce up the miniature golf course at the Hastings Family YMCA, 1220 W. 18th St.

The YMCA has asked volunteers to help prepare the course before it opens for the season every year, but this year was different.

This year, the volunteers’ efforts prepared the course for a bigger change.

The YMCA received a $25,000 matching grant from the Adams County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and a $5,000 grant from the Kitty Perkins Foundation to revamp the course. The greens will be re-carpeted and the entrance will be moved to the street. Siding and shingles will be added to the golf hut that will serve as the new entrance. The water feature also is being repaired.
