KEARNEY — With eight seniors on the Adams Central wrestling team, the Patriots wanted to send them out on a positive note Saturday at the state dual championships at the University of Nebraska-Kearney.

Adams Central won two of its three matches, finishing in third place. The Patriots beat Nebraska City 38-30 in the final dual to earn their trophy.

“We just wrestled well. Mark Zeckser had a great match, and all of my seniors won, which was kind of nice. We’ve lived and died by our seniors for pretty much the last three years. They’re just a great group. It was a great way to end the season with those guys going,” said AC head coach Dan Lonowski. “They all had a sour taste in their mouths after last week. It was a rough week of practice, but at the end they said it was worth it.”
