Points hard to come in Tigers’ season-ending loss

GRAND ISLAND — The Hastings Tigers (7-15) struggled offensively in their 39-27 loss to Northwest (9-16) in a Class B-5 district tournament game Saturday.

The Tigers made just 9-of-37 shots (24 percent) from the field and just 2-of-13 (15 percent) from the 3-point line.

The 27 points scored was the lowest point total of the season for the Tigers as their season came to an end.

“We just could not make baskets,” Hastings High head coach Lance Creech said. “Northwest does that to teams with their physical size and strength. Every shot at the rim was altered. We had many opportunities to get into the paint and shoot shots that appeared to be easy, but we just couldn’t put the ball into the hole tonight.”
