Brooks Asher Feb. 5.
The Adams Central boys basketball team already has made history this season.
Its 21 wins this season is a school record, but there's one still standing: A Patriot boys basketball team has yet to win a game in the state tournament.
Fifth-seeded AC (21-5) will have a chance to change that when it takes on fourth-seeded Wayne (22-5) in the first round of the Class C-1 state tournament at the Pershing Auditorium on Thursday at 3:45 p.m.
The Patriots and head coach Zac Foster are well aware of the Blue Devils. In some ways, the coach said, it feels like they're facing a conference team.
That's because the two teams met earlier this season in the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout holiday tournament at Wayne State College.
The Patriots escaped with an ugly 28-24 win in which they scored only four points after halftime.
