Suffice to say that not much could intimidate the St. Cecilia girls basketball team as its prepares for the state basketball tournament that beings Thursday.
The girls on the roster have played in some tough, pressure-packed atmospheres plenty of times before — most recently, the state volleyball championship last fall. The No. 2-seeded Hawkettes (21-3), who finished runner-up to Crofton at last year’s basketball tournament, are back in Lincoln for the fourth time in five years and clearly have expertise at their advantage.
“We certainly hope it will be, having that experience. We have talked more about our game plan then about what to expect and those types of things,” said STC head coach Jahn Kile, whose team is set to face No. 7 Dundy County-Stratton (23-3) Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lincoln Southwest. “We can just focus on what we need to do as a basketball team.”
