Minden advances to state finals

Minden's Rebecca Stewart dives for a loose ball against
Platteview's Kenzie Kulm during their semifinal game of the
Class C-1 state tournament Friday in Lincoln.

LINCOLN — All season long, the Minden girls basketball team has been steamrolling over opponents. That hasn't changed one bit in the first two games at the state tournament.

After beating Lincoln Lutheran by 34 points in their first-round game Thursday, the No. 1 Whippets (26-0) turned around Friday morning and beat No. 5 Platteview (23-3) 79-49 at the Pinnacle Bank Arena to advance to the Class C-2 state championship game.

"You've got the 'Three K's" out there who can hit some shots, and they get things going," said Minden head coach Rick Chramosta. "Jenna Denney is playing good right now. All of our kids are playing wel. I thought Rebecca Stewart got us started, made some offense with some rebounds. She did a heck of a job for us."
