KENESAW — It may have been only the first meet of the season for the Doniphan-Trumbull boys track and field team, but the Cardinals appeared to be in midseason form as far as the results sheet goes.
Doniphan-Trumbull captured seven gold medals en route to a team championship at the Kenesaw invite Thursday. The Cardinals fended off the host Blue Devils, outscoring Kenesaw 154-138.
"We came in knowing it was going to be between us and Kenesaw. We had some guys come through in some events we weren't expecting," Doniphan-Trumbull head coach Adam Pfeifer said. "We have a little ways to go. It was our first meet of the year, but we're happy with the way they performed."
Blue Hill placed third with 69 points. Silver Lake was fourth with 62, and Superior placed fifth with 37.
