Last season, the Hastings High track and field team had to cancel its home invite due to bad weather. The Tigers had no such problems as Friday provided warm temperatures in the afternoon with little wind.
HHS racked up 67 1/2 points to finish fourth, while Donipha-Trumbull was seventh with seven points. Cozad ran away with the event, totaling 184 points — 68 more points than second-place Holdrege.
Hastings High head coach Dave Johnson said any time his team is able to compete in March is a good day.
"Today was about as good of a day as you could have had. It might have been a little cool for the sprinters, the hurdlers and the jumpers, but for middle distance on up it was a great day," he said. "You get this kind of day during this time of year you have to take advantage of it."
