A statewide group of homeless education liaisons visited the Maryland Living Center on Wednesday.
Cathy Mohnike, state homeless education coordinator, said the liaisons work with schools for the education of homeless youth.
The group meets every year to discuss the concerns and challenges of providing education to homeless children.
The group gathers in one of the cities with a school that receives funding from the McKinney-Vento federal grant and usually tours a homeless shelter or similar facility.
Mohnike said Hastings was chosen because the Maryland Living Center is a new program.
“Everybody was really excited to come see the program,” she said.
