Excitement took over late Thursday night in the Hastings Community Foundation office for the folks helping out with the inaugural Give Hastings Day.
“It was about 11:30 p.m. when we were nearing that $250,000 mark, which was our goal,” Jessi Hoeft, chair for 2014 Give Hastings Day, said this morning. “We kind of all were refreshing our computer screens and watching it happen. There was a 10-15 minute delay. Somebody refreshed and we saw just over $250,000 on the screen and everybody was cheering and we were all giving high fives. It was a pretty fun, festive place to be at 11:30 at night working.”
The Hastings Community Foundation, in cooperation with 55 local non-profit organizations, raised $339,990 — including more than $80,000 matching funds — during the first-ever Give Hastings Day. This 24-hour online donation event encouraged people to learn more about giving opportunities in the community and take action.
