Placement of electric lines progressing with development


The alleyways between First and Third streets from Burlington to Minnesota avenues in downtown Hastings used to be much more of an eyesore.

Large transformers and cables held up by tall wooden power poles created a bulky, tunnel-like effect behind buildings, including Eakes Office Plus, Dutton-Lainson Co., The Kensington and City Hall.

The replacement of those antiquated power poles and the movement of some of that electrical service underground several years ago is a prime example of Hastings Utilities' electric line policy and the progress of that policy alongside city developments.
