Crowds gathered Friday and Saturday evening for the second annual Bobby Gottsch Jr. Memorial Hastings College Rodeo at the Adams County Fairgrounds.
For Matt Raney of Hastings, it was a fun way to spend the evening with family.
“It’s local so you don’t have to drive,” he said.
His 8-year-old son, Dietrich, said his favorite event was bull riding.
Events included bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, breakaway roping, tie down roping, team roping, goat tying, steer wrestling, barrel racing and bull riding.
Wendy Gwennap of Hastings said she was impressed by the skills demonstrated by the college students. She said it shows her children how hard work pays off.
She grew up in a ranching community and went to rodeos all the time.
“Living in a city, you don’t get that opportunity as often,” she said.
