Hastings High student scores 36 on ACT

Not many high school students can say they scored a 36 on their ACT. But Hastings High’s Ryder Mays can, after coming darn close the first time he took the test.

Mays scored a 35 when he took his ACT for the first time in December, just one point shy of a perfect score.

Mays was pleased with his score and had no intentions of taking the test again; however, all Hastings High juniors are required to take the test in March each year.

“So I had to take it,” Mays said. “I had the 35, so I figured I would shoot for the 36.”
