Area runners qualify for Boston Marathon

Nine Hastings runners completed the Lincoln Marathon and 87 completed the half-marathon on Sunday.

With a time of 3 hours, 5 minutes and 40 seconds, 37-year-old Dustin Tinsman had the fastest marathon time among Hastings runners. He finished 174th overall.

Also, Tenille Rader and Courtney Drake qualified for the Boston Marathon with their times.
Rader, 33, completed the race in 3 hours, 30 minutes and 41 seconds, finishing 207th overall. Drake, 55, completed the race in 3 hours, 34 minutes and 21 seconds as the 238th overall runner and was fifth in his division.

The Boston Marathon qualifying time for women 18-34 years old is 3 hours and 35 minutes and for men 55-59 years old is 3 hours and 40 minutes.

Bill McKay of Juniata, 62, was the top finisher in the 60-64-year-old men’s division with a time of 3 hours, 59 minutes and 55 seconds. Daniel Garman of Burr Oak, Kansas, 61, had the 10th fastest time in the division running 4 hours, 47 minutes and 16 seconds.

Among half marathon finishers from Hastings, 30-year-old Jeff Bittfield was first with a time of 1 hour, 21 minutes and 33 seconds.

Other top finishers from the area include the following:

— Dave Johnson of Harvard, 58, was second in the 55-59-year-old men’s division with a time of 1 hours, 27 minutes and 17 seconds.

— Kylie Hanna of Hastings, 12, was fifth in the under 15-year-old women’s division with a time of 2 hours, 09 minutes and 22 seconds.

— Jessica Dolan of Minden, 19, was eighth in the 15-19-year-old women’s division with a time of 1 hour, 48 minutes and 48 seconds.

— Ann Hubl of Hebron, 34, was eighth in the 30-34-year-old women’s division with a time of 1 hour, 32 minutes and 05 seconds.

— Stephani Olson of Red Cloud, 50, was third in the 50-54-year-old division with a time of 1 hour, 39 minutes and 22 seconds.
