The Adams County Board of Supervisors made no official decision Tuesday but appeared generally supportive of a bid to bring the Central Nebraska Veterans Home to Hastings.
The state will be accepting bids in June from Nebraska communities interested in serving as new home to the facility, which has been in Grand Island for 125 years.
The communities that have expressed formal interest in the project are Grand Island, North Platte, Kearney and Hastings.
On Tuesday, Dave Rippe, executive director of the Hastings Economic Development Corporation, presented the county board with information about the city’s possible bid and asked the board to consider supporting the project.
“This project is bigger than the Hastings Economic Development Corporation or the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce or whoever,” Rippe said. “It is appropriate that our elected officials take a look at this and make a decision if we should move forward.”
