Student-built house sells for $146,000

Central Community College-Hastings construction students
and prospective buyers listen to the terms of the sale prior
to the 1,800 square foot home being auctioned off
Wednesday at the Hastings campus.

A Superior couple Wednesday offered the highest bid of $146,000 for the purchase of a home built by students who are in the construction program at Central Community College-Hastings.

John and Marsha Ray plan to use the newly-constructed house to replace the family home in rural Superior.

This marks the 18th home constructed by CCC students that has been sold during a public auction on the CCC campus. Only one of those houses has remained in Hastings. One has gone as far as Benedict.

Last year’s house sold for $149,000.
