Students celebrate spring by riding, walking to school

Anna Potter locks up her bike at Lincoln Elementary Friday
morning. As a third-grader this is the first year Anna could
ride her bike to school.

Some came wearing tennis shoes or sandals as their small feet beat the pavement while others donned helmets and rode their bikes.

That was the way the school day started Friday at Lincoln Elementary where they celebrated National Bike to School Day.

The event highlights the importance of both walking and biking to school to improve students' mental and physical health along with decreasing the amount of traffic and vehicle pollutants.
