SUTTON — A home seated on a plot of land about a mile north of Sutton Public School has been in Kenny Reutzel’s family for four generations.
When the Harvard resident came to the site on Sunday evening, however, the bungalow where he spent many of his childhood years was leveled.
“I remember coming out here to spend time with my grandparents,” Reutzel said, as he and several insurance representatives surveyed the household goods representing the only remains of the home Monday. “There are some things that insurance and money can’t replace.”
Reutzel is a member of the Harvard volunteer fire department, and he and his family were listening to the radio and staying alert as storms surfaced in the area Sunday afternoon. Harvard had some pretty severe hail, but nothing like what Sutton experienced.
“We could hear the roar of the tornado from Harvard,” Reutzel said.
