FACES OF TRIBLAND: Parks superintendent a jack of all trades

Terry Brown, parks superintendent for the Hastings Parks
and Recreation Department, poses for a portrait Monday in
the visitors' dugout at Duncan Field.

Terry Brown is a hands-on kind of guy.

He likes to get into a project, pick up the tools and get to work. And there's no problem he won't try to solve.

"I came off the farm so I want to get in with that stuff," he said. "Give me pliers and bailing wire and I'll try to keep it together."

Brown believes that philosophy serves him well as the parks superintendent for the Hastings Parks and Recreation Department.

Brown joined the parks department just prior to the opening of the Bill Smith Softball Complex in 1995. He worked there until late 2009 when he was promoted to the parks superintendent position.
