Contrary to a Hastings Tribune story in Friday's edition, the outcome of the Adams County Board of Supervisors District 3 contest is still up in the air and a recount has been requested by one of the candidates.
After ballots were counted following Tuesday's primary, Jim Kostal of Ayr unofficially held a nine-vote lead over Jennifer Czekai of Ayr. Both are Republicans. Bill Johnson of Roseland was another Republican candidate on the ballot.
However, the Adams County Canvassing Board found discrepancies in the number of ballots cast compared to the voters participating and had to verify the totals.
Adams County Clerk Ramona Thomas said a glitch in the system caused early voters to be counted twice in the initial results.
"That's the point of the canvassing board, to audit the results of the election," she said.
