With an estimated $600 million up for grabs — the largest Powerball jackpot in Nebraska history — would-be millionaires already are flocking to stores for what promises to be the hottest ticket in town.
Bobbi Cooper, 46, manager of Uncle Neal's Convenience Store at Third Street and Burlington Avenue, said Friday that Powerball ticket sales have helped to keep the store busy as it undergoes renovations to its gasoline pumps.
More than 600 tickets were sold at the store on Wednesday alone, with additional sales anticipated as the drawing draws nearer.
"Considering that my parking lot is torn up, it's been a good thing," Cooper said. "They are buying more tickets — at least double."
And what do customers say they'd do with their winnings?
"Everybody is going to run out of town, that's for sure," she said. "Disappear. But they're going to share!"
