Marathon organizer moving to Colorado

The organizer of Hastings’ first-ever marathon has resigned from his position as activities director at Adams Central to move back to his home state of Colorado.

Ron Alexander resigned Tuesday to take a similar position with the Poudre School District in Fort Collins, Colo.

The district, he said, serves about 27,000 students and includes four charter schools, an online academy, seven high schools, 10 middle schools and about 30 elementaries.

Alexander, 49, who attended the University of Northern Colorado, said it has been a career ambition for him to work for a district-level position, involving multiple schools or a state association.

“I have 18 years in a retirement system in Colorado and it just made too much sense for me to be able to solidify my future,” he said.
