ROSELAND — The Silver Lake school district bid farewell to more than 60 years of teaching experience at the end of the school year.
Diane Mahoney is retiring after 39 years as an elementary and middle school science teacher, and Joyce Overturf spent 24 years in the classroom teaching high school English.
Both were guests of honor at a school luncheon May 16. They received numerous cards, gifts and accolades at reception.
"It has been awesome and every day is fun, especially with the young kids," Mahoney said. "You are learning new things all the time and the kids keep you young."
