City street project begins Friday

The city of Hastings will begin a resurfacing project on Oswego Avenue between Third and Fourth streets Friday.

Work will consist of the milling and placement of new asphalt surface, patching of asphalt sub-base, and the replacement of damaged curbs and gutters. During the project, traffic access will be restricted to the general public. Only local traffic will be allowed to access private and business drives.

Property owners will be required to park on side streets or make other arrangements for parking, as driveway access will not be allowed. A no parking zone will be in effect for the duration of the project.

In addition, during paving, traffic may be restricted for up to 24 hours to allow materials to cool. The project will be built in phases to accommodate local traffic.

Crews will begin milling the existing surface on Friday, weather permitting. The project is estimated to take two weeks.

Questions about the project can be directed to the office of the city engineer, 402-461-2330.
