CLAY COUNTY — As Virgil Johnson drove a half-mile west to escape a tornado Wednesday afternoon, he could see the effects as the storm ripped across his property.
"I saw that piece of tin, it was shiny," he said. "At first I didn't know what it was. I could see that it was up high."
That piece of tin, around 20 feet by 6 feet, was part of the roof from an outbuilding on his property.
"I could see it real clear," Johnson said. "It was there for a little while, then it dropped, it disappeared."
