Toogood remembered as 'vault of knowledge'

Family and friends gathered Wednesday to share memories and stories about Arthur Toogood, who died Friday after 30 years as the Adams County public defender.

Toogood, 74, had a heart attack at his home on May 19 and was taken to the Nebraska Heart Institute & Heart Hospital in Lincoln, where he was admitted until his death.

The family had a private graveside service on Tuesday in Seward, and Wednesday's celebration of life at the 281 Cafe was for the public.

Former employees in Toogood's office described him as an easy-going boss who enjoyed teaching the trade.
