Now that the calendar has flipped to May, it’s fair to say prep sports are in the heart of the spring season.
With just less than three weeks until boys golf teams tee off for districts, golfers at the Cyndi Peil Memorial Scramble got to change things up for a day.
On a crisp, windy Wednesday, Lawrence-Nelson came out on top, shooting a 256 at the scramble at the Red Cloud Golf Club. The Raiders edged out Blue Hill, which finished with a 258.
“Real tough conditions today, but I was proud of my kids; they hung in there real well,” said Lawrence-Nelson head coach Ron Thayer. “We talked about it on the way over, that scores are going to be higher today. You just have to take what the golf course gives you, be patient, play the holes with the wind the best you can and then just take your punishment when you play into the wind. There was a lot of wind out there today.”
