Broncos go 1-1 to start GPAC tourney

The Hastings College Softball team entered the GPAC tournament as one of eight schools competing for a spot in the national tournament. The Broncos (24-21, 13-9 GPAC) entered the tournament seeded fourth and faced No. 5 Dakota Wesleyan.

The Broncos defeated Dakota Wesleyan 10-2 in six innings before falling to Morningside 8-6 on Thursday at Smith Softball Complex.

“Dakota Wesleyan beat us two games just a week ago, and we thought that we would play much better than we did,” said Hastings College head coach Troy Baker. “We hit the ball much better, and the defense played very well. We did everything right in that first game, and it spring-boarded us into that first inning of the Morningside game.”
