Franklin eighth-grader win junior high division of Cornhusker Trapshoot

DONIPHAN — Trent Christiancy of the Young Guns 4-H trap club in Franklin won the junior high division at the 44th Cornhusker Trapshoot here Thursday at the home grounds of the Nebraska Trapshooting Association.

Christiancy, an eighth-grader at Franklin Public Schools, broke 98 of 100 targets at 16 yards to win the title.

A record 888 junior high shooters competed Thursday.

"We had a super day after a terrible day weather-wise on Wednesday setting up," shoot director Terry Brentzel said. "We had good scores and some good, healthy competition, and things ran extremely well."

The Blair I squad of Billy Miller, Weston Zolck, Timmy Bennett, Nate Peleska and Jake Kavanaugh broke 429 of 500 targets for the team championship.
