Giltner wins district title

KENESAW — Through the first 10 events of Wednesday’s boys Class C, District 5 track and field meet, the top three boys teams were separated by just 3.5 points. Giltner and Silver Lake were tied with 60, and Kenesaw had 56.5.

And then the Hornets left everyone else behind.
Giltner had eight top-three finishes in the final seven events to claim its second straight D-5 title.

“We hit just about every place we wanted to,” said Giltner coach Nancy Lockmon, whose squad finished with 132 points.

Kenesaw finished second with 108.5 points, while Silver Lake placed third with 82 points. Lawrence-Nelson was fifth (34), while Red Cloud and Deshler tied for sixth with 26 points.
