Hoins propels Superior to C-9 girls title

Superior's Jaysa Hoins nears the finish line of the 200-meter
dash at the Class C, District 9 meet Thursday at Sandy
Creek.

FAIRFIELD — A year ago, Superior's Jaysa Hoins just missed out on qualifying for state in each of her four events.

This time around was a different story. The Superior sophomore won all four events she competed in at the Class C, District 9 meet Thursday at Sandy Creek, propelling the Wildcats to the district title with 123 points.

St. Cecilia finished second in the team race with 105, followed by Sutton (68), Sandy Creek (67) and Doniphan-Trumbull (62).

Hoins started the district track meet by winning the triple jump in the morning with a mark 34 feet, 11 3/4 inches. She then followed that up with a title in the long jump (16-3 1/2). In the afternoon, she captured titles in the 100-meter dash (12.7 seconds) and the 200 (26.2).
