HC softball prepares for national tournament

For the first time since 2009, the Hastings College softball team will be competing in the NAIA national tournament.

The Broncos were a powerhouse in the GPAC throughout the season, compiling a conference record of 19-6 and overall record of 29-12. Hastings claimed the conference regular season title and won its first three games of the GPAC tournament to clinch a spot in the championship. But the Broncos lost two games to Morningside by a combined score of 29-9.

HC head coach Troy Baker said those two losses are far from his players' minds.

"We've practiced all week and we haven't even mentioned Morningside once. I think it's out of their system," Baker said. "That was disappointing, but that's past. This is what we've been shooting for since we won the regular season."
