Hastings High places third at GNAC

It was a busy week for the Hastings High girls tennis team. Beginning on May 3, the Tigers had three invites and a dual within six days, leading up to the GNAC tournament on Saturday.

Hastings High battled fatigue and warm conditions to place third at the conference meet, tying with Lexington with 22 points. Kearney won the tournament with 42 points.

“I think we played really well today. There was some stiff competition, and we had some girls step up today, so that was nice to see,” said HHS head coach Derek Williams. “We couldn’t ask for any better weather, so that was awesome. It was nice to see where we’re at against the teams in our conference, so when we see them at state we know where we’re at.”

Hastings High’s Sydney Landell and Kathleen Bartunek finished second in the No. 2 doubles competition, compiling a record of 6-1 on the day.
